The Power of Being Exactly Where You Are

“Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes… including you.” — Anne Lamott

For so long, I believed that progress had to look like movement.

A new goal. A new plan. A next step.

Always building “to-do” lists—written or just spinning in my head.

  • Why do we chase speed?
  • What if we paused for a breath?
  • What if we stayed still?

Stillness used to feel too close to failure. But lately, I’ve been learning something softer:

  • Sometimes the bravest thing you can do is stay still, breathe, hold on, and feel.
  • Sometimes growth happens in the pause, not the push.

Opening your eyes after a while, you don’t lose the moment—you see it differently. From a new angle. A deeper one. The one exactly needed.

The Rest Isn’t Wasted Time

We live in a culture that glorifies rush, that celebrates productivity and acceleration.

But here’s the truth that’s been whispering to me lately:

The moment you’re in is sacred and perfect for you.

Even if it’s messy. Even if it’s unclear. Even if you feel like you’re just “in between.”

Not every season is meant to be loud. Maybe some are meant for listening, for preparing.

Some are meant for breathing, for mending, for rooting yourself deeply before blooming again.

Research supports this perspective—showing that mindfulness and being present enhances emotional resilience, reduces stress, and increases life satisfaction.

Stillness Has a Sound

In stillness, I started hearing what I had silenced in the noise:

• My unmet needs.

• My deeper longings.

• My quiet resilience.

It reminded me of what I wrote in The Music of Becoming:

“There is a song within you—subtle, unique, ever-shifting. The more you listen, the more aligned your life becomes.”

And this is part of becoming bold too—learning to trust your timing instead of rushing toward someone else’s.

I needed to learn that I am unique. That I don’t have to copy others.

That I can move at my own pace and follow my own heart—because this is about me, about my moment and my journey.

Yes, it’s true that people and environments can support me. But they don’t define me.

So now, pausing from time to time is my choice—staying still to truly feel the intensity of my emotions.

Because they define my direction more than any external deadline ever could.

Stillness is proven to heighten emotional intelligence and help us live with intention and purpose.

You Are Not Behind

That voice in your head that says, “You should be further along”?

That’s not your soul talking. That’s conditioning.

Your worth is not measured by checklists. You are not running out of time. You are not “late.”

You are right on time for your own life.

Every step, every pause, every breath brought you to the version of you who stands here today.

  • Even if you’re resting.
  • Even if you’re realigning.
  • Even if you’re just learning how to be here.

Slowing down gives us the space to connect deeply with ourselves—and with life.

This Moment Matters

Every version of you—the one who tried, the one who failed, the one who is healing—is part of your story.

And this page you’re on? It matters just as much as the one before and the one after.

You don’t have to skip.

You don’t have to push.

You don’t have to bloom on demand.

You just have to breathe.

And let now be enough.

Stillness is not about doing nothing—it’s about being deeply present. It’s about aligning with a rhythm that is sustainable, soulful, and true.

A Gentle Invitation

So, if today finds you standing still… If your path feels quiet or unclear… If your progress feels invisible…

Know this:

  • You are still brewing.
  • You are still growing.
  • You are already enough.

Your presence is powerful. Your stillness is valid.

And your story is unfolding—beautifully, patiently, perfectly—in its own time.

 Let’s Talk

Have you ever felt “behind” in your journey? What helped you find peace in the present moment?

I’d love to hear your rhythm. 💛
